The Weekend Box Office is part of a game that I do with a few people (Jen, Kyle, Jonathan). It's not just something I throw out for sheer craziness.

Ok.

DODGEBALL opens, AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS opens and THE TERMINAL opens.

Actually, DODGEBALL has probably go the best "buzz" since no one gives a shit about 80 DAYS (basically) and THE TERMINAL looks like a rereun. BALKI the movie, I say. I've actually heard some good things about DODGEBALL. Too bad the trailers and ads suck.

Still, there is the Spielberg/Hanks/money triangle. A good relationship all round.

I say... 35 million for TERMINAL, and 20 each for 80 DAYS and DODGEBALL.

Fair enough for all.

Look at RIDDICK to droooooooop and HARRY POTTER to stabilize.

I'd like to see NAPOLEON DYNAMITE again. Nothing like seeing a to-be-cult movie with a loving crowd.

Speaking of which, I'd also like to see the DONNIE DARKO re-release. When I saw it the first time, it was in a crappy theatre in New York with 4 other people. Halfway through, at the burning-of-Swayze's-house part, the film caught and the frame burned up onscreen. Eventually, they rethreaded it and it went on.

Afterwards, I spent 10 minutes arguing with the manager to give me a refund. I won, but never used the "free ticket." It was all about 'making a point.'

I mentioned this to the producer of DARKO once when he was in for a meeting and he wasn't even that surprised. He said that he'd heard about similarly strange stories loads of times, as if the movie was haunted.

I guess it makes sense due to the strange tone and mood of the film. I doubt RAISING HELEN has any strange circumstances attached to it, other than that people are actually watching it.

This could be a bit of practice for the proposed Best Week Ever, huh, Kyle? I mean, making witty and smart-ass comments about other bullshit and all that....

It could also be a place for box office predictions, so I don't have to send out an e-mail. I can just post my snarky predictions up here and you can comment on it.

What a revolution. This could be like the Friendster revolution, where it seems cool and hip for a mili-second and boring from there on.

It would be cool to post mp3s, but that might involve the paying of money. That I don't need.
